Updating Unite Pro apps and Compatibility
This article covers how Unite Pro and your created apps receive updates, how to check for updates manually, and compatibility information for different versions of macOS and Mac hardware.
Unite Pro Updates
Unite Pro uses Sparkle for automatic updates. When a new version is available, Unite Pro will notify you with an update banner or dialog.
To check for updates manually: Go to Unite → Check for Updates…
Clicking Install Update downloads and applies the update. Unite Pro relaunches automatically after updating. Your app library, settings, and license are all preserved through updates.
Auto-Updating Created Apps
When Unite Pro updates, it can automatically apply the update to all your existing created apps as well — ensuring they benefit from the latest features, bug fixes, and macOS compatibility improvements.
This is enabled by default. To disable:
- Open Unite Pro.
- Go to Preferences → General.
- Toggle off Automatically update created apps.
When disabled, existing apps stay at their current version until you manually trigger an update by editing and saving each app in Unite Pro.
What Happens to My Apps After a macOS Upgrade?
In most cases, your Unite apps work without any changes after upgrading macOS. If something breaks after an OS upgrade:
- Open Unite Pro and check for updates — a Unite Pro update may address the issue.
- Edit and save the affected app to rebuild it against the current version.
- If problems persist, contact support.
Migrating to a New Mac
- On your old Mac, export all your Unite apps as
.uniteconfigfiles (requires Pro). See Importing, Exporting, and Backing Up Apps - Transfer the
.uniteconfigfiles to your new Mac (AirDrop, iCloud Drive, external drive). - Install Unite Pro on your new Mac.
- Deactivate your license on the old Mac, then activate on the new one.
- Import each
.uniteconfigfile to recreate your apps.
Your browsing data, bookmarks, and saved passwords in created apps are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/ — you can also migrate that folder if you want to preserve session data.
