Coherence settings and browser engines

Open Coherence > Settings to configure defaults for newly created apps and manage the browser engines available to Coherence.

Settings has two sections: App Defaults and Browsers.

App Defaults

App Defaults settings

These settings pre-fill the Create App page. You can override them for any individual app.

Enable Multi-Tab Support — starts new apps with multi-tab support enabled.
Enable Incognito Mode — starts new apps in a private window. This also enables multi-tab support.
Register App as Browser — lets new apps appear in compatible macOS Open in menus without making them the default browser.
Default Save Location — chooses where generated apps are saved.
Automatic App Updates — updates created apps in the background when Coherence is updated.
Default Icon Shape — chooses the initial shape for enhanced icons.

Data Import defaults

Turn on Import Data by Default if most new apps should begin with browser-data import enabled. You can choose which categories are preselected:

Bookmarks
Extensions
Settings & Preferences
Browsing History
Passwords & Autofill

You still choose the source browser profile during app creation.

Browsers

Browser Configuration settings

The Browsers section lists Google Chrome, Chrome Canary, Brave Browser, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Chromium, Vivaldi, and Helium.

Each row shows whether the engine was found and its configured executable path.

Select Download to open the browser’s official download page when it is not installed.
Select Configure to choose the installed browser application manually.
Select Reset to restore the standard /Applications path.

Coherence checks browser availability again when it becomes the active application, so a newly installed browser should appear without restarting your Mac.

Choosing an engine for an app

The browser engine determines the Chromium build packaged into the generated app. It does not automatically share the browser’s active profile, cookies, or sign-ins. Use the Import from [Browser] section during creation when you want a one-time copy of supported profile data.
