The Coherence Helper extension

Every Coherence app includes Coherence Helper, a lightweight companion extension that connects Chromium behavior to Coherence’s native Mac features.

What Coherence Helper does

Coherence Helper provides:

  • Link routing — sends links to the current app, another Coherence app, your default browser, or a browser you choose.
  • Smart window management — helps Dock clicks, sign-in popups, and payment windows behave like parts of a native Mac app.
  • Session restore — reopens tabs from the previous session when enabled.

The extension operates locally. Its configuration is stored with the Coherence app, and routing decisions are handled on the Mac.

Installation

Coherence installs Helper automatically when it creates or updates an app. You do not need to find it in the Chrome Web Store or manually copy it from your regular browser profile.

The extension can take a moment to appear on an app’s first launch. If the browser asks whether to enable Coherence Helper, enable it so native window behavior and Link Routing can work.

View the current configuration

Open the app’s extension management page and choose Coherence Helper > Details > Extension options. The options page shows:

  • The current Link Routing rules and destinations.
  • The destination for unmatched links.
  • Whether session restoration is on or off.

The summary updates when Coherence changes the app configuration.

Change Helper settings

The Helper page is intentionally read-only. Select Manage in Coherence…, or edit the app from Coherence’s Your Apps library. Make the change and select Update App.

If Coherence Helper is missing or disabled

  1. Quit the created app.
  2. Open Coherence X6.
  3. Choose the app from Your Apps, open its gear menu, and select Edit.
  4. Select Update App without removing the application.
  5. Launch the app again and check its extensions page.

If Helper is present but cannot open Coherence, confirm that Coherence X6 remains installed in the Applications folder.
