iCloud Sync
Overview
iCloud Sync automatically keeps your clipboard history, collections, and Super Shortcuts synchronized across all your Macs using CloudKit. Changes made on one device instantly appear on others, ensuring your clipboard data is always accessible wherever you work.
Setting Up iCloud Sync
1. Enable Sync: In Settings → General, toggle "iCloud Sync" to On
2. Sign In: Ensure you're signed into iCloud on all devices
3. Verify Connection: Look for the sync status indicator in the menu bar
What Gets Synced
Always Synced
- Clipboard history (text, links, code snippets)
- Collections and Smart Collections
- Super Shortcuts and folders
Conditionally Synced
- Images: Only if under size limit (default: 5MB)
- Very Large Content: May be stored as references only
Never Synced
- Files: Due to iCloud size restrictions
Sync Status Indicators
Menu Bar Icons
- Normal Icon: Everything synced and up to date
- Cloud with Arrow: Sync in progress
- Warning Icon: Sync error or conflict
Status Messages
- Idle: No sync activity
- Syncing: Data being synchronized
- Synced: All changes synchronized
- Error: Sync issue requiring attention
Managing Sync Settings
Sync Exclusions
- Images can be excluded from sync entirely
- Confidential content filtering applies to sync
- Ignored apps and keywords not synced
