Collections

Overview


Collections help you organize clipboard items into logical groups. Create regular collections for manual organization or smart collections that automatically categorize items based on rules.


Collections in Quip for macOS

Regular Collections


Manual organization for your clipboard items:


1. Create: Click "+" in the Collections view or use `⌘⌥⇧N`

2. Add Items: Drag items from history or right-click → "Add to Collection"

3. Organize: Rename, reorder, or delete collections as needed


Smart Collections

Creating Smart Collections in Quip

Automatically organize items based on content type, source app, or date range:


Content Type Filters

- All URLs from any source

- Images only

- Code snippets

- Rich text documents


App-Based Filters

- Items copied from specific applications

- Exclude items from certain apps

- Focus on development tools or design apps


Date Range Filters

- Items from the last 24 hours

- This week's clipboard activity

- Custom date ranges


Creating Smart Collections


1. Click "+" and enable "Smart Collection"

2. Choose your filter criteria:

- Content Types: Text, Images, Links, Code, Files

- Source Apps: Filter by specific applications

- Date Range: Set time boundaries

3. Items matching your criteria automatically appear


Collection Management

Manage Collections in Settings

- Duplicate: Duplicate any collection to create a copy

- Edit Rules: Modify smart collection criteria anytime

- Quick Switch: Use `⌘⌥←` and `⌘⌥→` to navigate between collections
