What are Super Shortcuts?

Super Shortcuts transform short text triggers into expanded content instantly. Type a few letters, and Quip automatically expands them into full text, complete with dynamic content like dates, times, and calculations.

Creating Super Shortcuts

1. Quick Creation: Right-click any clipboard item and select "Create Super Shortcut"

2. From Scratch: Use `⌘⌥N` or click the "+" button in Super Shortcuts view

3. From Current Clipboard: Use `⌘⌥⇧C` to create a shortcut from whatever's currently copied

Using Super Shortcuts


Simply type your trigger text in any application. Quip monitors your typing and automatically expands shortcuts when you:

- Press Space or Return after typing a trigger

- Type the complete trigger text


Organization with Folders


Keep your shortcuts organized using folders:

- Drag shortcuts between folders

- Collapse/expand folders for better navigation  

- Use emojis to make folders visually distinctive


Keyboard Shortcuts


- `⌘⌥S` — Show Super Shortcuts (when Quip is open)

- `⌘⌥O` — Open Super Shortcuts view

- `⌘⌥N` — Create new Super Shortcut

- `⌘⌥⇧C` — Create shortcut from clipboard

- `⌘⌥E` — Edit last expanded shortcut
