Menu Bar Integration
Menu Bar Icon
Quip's menu bar icon provides quick access to all features without cluttering your dock. The icon changes to indicate Quip's status:
Active State (default)
- Standard clipboard icon
- Quip is monitoring and ready to use
Paused State
- Dimmed or crossed-out icon
- Monitoring is temporarily paused

Accessing Quip
Regular-Click the Menu Bar Icon
- Opens the main Quip interface
- Shows your clipboard history
- Click anywhere outside to close
Secondary-Click the Menu Bar Icon
- Opens the context menu with quick actions
- Access settings, pause monitoring, and more
Keyboard Shortcut
- Press ⌘⌥C from anywhere in macOS
- Works even when Quip's menu bar icon is hidden

The right-click menu provides quick access to:
Core Actions
- Open Quip (same as left-click)
- Pause/Resume monitoring
Capture Content
- Capture any text from your screen
- Import new content using your iPhone's camera
Settings & Info
- Open Settings
- Check subscription status
- About Quip
- Quit Quip
Notch Compatibility
- Show/Hide Dock Icon (Helpful for MacBooks with notched displays where menu bar space is limited)

For MacBooks with notched displays where menu bar space is limited:
Dock Icon Option
- Enable "Show Dock Icon" from the right-click menu or Settings
- Access Quip from the dock when menu bar is full
- Still use ⌘⌥C keyboard shortcut
Always Available
- Quip remains accessible via ⌘⌥C even if menu bar icon is hidden
- System keyboard shortcut works from any application
Customizing Menu Bar Behavior
In Settings > General:
- Start at Login: Launch Quip automatically when you log in
- Dock Icon: Show Quip in the dock alongside menu bar
