Quip recognizes and handles multiple content types:


Text Content

- Plain text from any application

- Rich text with formatting preserved

- File paths and file references

Quip for macOS

Viewing Your History


To access your clipboard history:

1. Click the Quip menu bar icon, or

2. Press ⌘⌥C from anywhere in macOS

3. Your most recent items appear at the top of the list


Each history item shows:

- Content preview with rich formatting

- Timestamp of when it was copied

- Origin application icon and name

- Content type indicator

Using Clipboard Items


Quick Paste

- Click any item to immediately paste it to your active application

- Or use arrow keys to navigate and press Return to paste


Preview Content

- Hover over items to see expanded previews

- Click the preview button for full-screen preview

- Use Space bar for Quick Look-style preview


Item Actions

Right-click items for context menu options:

  • Copy again to clipboard
  • Add to collection
  • Create shortcut
  • Edit content
  • Delete from history

History Management


Automatic Cleanup

- By default, Quip keeps 30 days of history

- Older items are automatically removed

- Change retention in Settings > General > Keep History For


Manual Management

- Delete individual items with right-click > Delete

- Clear entire history in Settings > General > Clear History

- Export history for backup


Storage Limits

- Large files are optimized for efficient storage

- Files, except for images, do not sync between devices
